From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A disease is an abnormal condition affecting the body of an organism. It is often construed to be a medical condition associated with specific symptoms and signs. It may be caused by external factors, such as infectious disease, or it may be caused by internal disfunctions, such as autoimmune diseases. In humans, "disease" is often used more broadly to refer to any condition that causes pain, dysfunction, distress, social problems, and/or death to the person afflicted, or similar problems for those in contact with the person. In this broader sense, it sometimes includes injuries, disabilities, disorders, syndromes, infections. Isolated symptoms, deviant behaviors, and atypical variations of structure and function, while in other contexts and for other purposes these may be considered distinguishable categories. A diseased body is quite often not only because of some dysfunction of a particular organ but can also be because of a state of mind of the affected person who is not at ease with a particular state of its body. Death due to disease is called death by natural causes. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What type of disease does a fish have if he sits at the bottom of the tank? Q. I have a 45 gallon aquarium with three freshwater parrot ciclids. For the past week, the largest of the tree sits at the bottom and waves his fins normally as if s/he was swimming. The fish's skin looks normal. He is eating normally and is not behaving any differently than before other than the sitting at the bottom of the tank. When I go to feed them, he swims normally like all of the other fish. About 6 weeks ago, we successfully treated hole in the head disease with this same fish. The water conditions are clean with the temp between 77 and 79 degrees. Anyone have any thoughts on the disease process thaty may be going on here? I appreciate your thoughts in advance! Asked by niupt2k - Fri Apr 13 12:56:29 2007 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. Seems like your fish is suffering from Swim Bladder. Swim or air bladder problems sometimes occur in freshwater fish. I have personally seen this is fancy goldfish such as Orandas, Ryunkins, and Shubunkins and also parrot fish. When the bladder is effected, the fish will experience equilibrium problems. Sometimes, the problem is not the bladder but other problems which directly affect the bladder. Diseased and inflamed internal organs, improper water conditions or nutrition, and wounds received from fighting with another fish can also effect the equilibrium of the fish. Constipation is also known to affect a fish's swimming ability! Symptoms: The fish has problems swimming correctly. They may appear to be standing on their head, or… [cont.] Answered by Mantra - Fri Apr 13 15:03:44 2007 What is the disease that is going around which kills rabbits? Q. Q. I was watching neighbours and I noticed that the character Bridget Parker died of a blood clot disease. Does anyone know the actual name of the disease or is it fictional? Thankyou. Any answers would be very much appreciated. Asked by Chi Chi : - Mon Jul 27 05:00:49 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. if it involves a blood clot it was probably an embolism, where a clot develops in the body and travels and gets lodged in an artery. if thats the case then that is a very real danger (dont think its a disease though). some people traveling on airplanes who sit in the same position too long can develop a clot in their legs and it will get dislodged and travel to their lungs and block an artery and they die Answered by My Answers Suck - Mon Jul 27 05:33:04 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "disease" Cleveland Clinic researchers link gut flora with heart disease - MedCity News
