Cryptid (from the Greek "κρύπτω" meaning "hide") is a term which is used in cryptozoology to refer to a creature whose existence has been suggested but that is unrecognized by a scientific consensus, and whose existence is moreover often regarded as highly unlikely. Noted cryptids include Bigfoot, Yeti, and the Loch Ness Monster.

What cryptids are real?
Q. What cryptids do you think are real? I really can't pick and choose. A lot of them have so many sightings, but seem so far-fetched.

A. Just so everyone who reads this understands exactly what a cryptid is, here is its definition: Cryptids are creatures presumed extinct or hypothetical species of creature known from anecdotal evidence and/or other evidence insufficient to prove their existence with scientific certainty. The slang term "cryptid" was first coined in 1983 by John Wall. A cryptid may also be known as an Unidentified Mysterious Animal (UMA). The study of cryptids is known as Cryptozoology. Personally, I don't believe in any of the cryptids other than the "giant octopus," the "bunyip," which is an Australian animal, (I'm Australian,) and the possibility of aliens. A. Notellyo, I for one do believe in cryptids but having said this, the Yeti, moa and Mokele-mbembe are cryptids now extinct, according to Cryptozoologists. But, I believe there are areas on land and sea that have not been explored sufficiently and may yet show that some of these so called cryptids will emerge to prove once again that man does not have all the answers to the worlds "lost" creatures.
